Perhaps this blog will be seeing more entries about those Groupon and SocialDeals etc type of dining experience. Even though I remain pessimistic about them, on the exception of Kobe Jones... I guess one thing I discovered was the power of user reviews, such as those on eatability.com (where I have taken to reviewing restaurants as well, just contributing back where I take from), and quite a few coupon holders will give very honest reviews about the restaurants.

So BT is getting married next year and she was hunting for Chinese restaurants to hold her wedding dinner. It'll be a huge event, with about 300 guests or so, meaning more than 12+ tables. She was considering Zilver and Sky Phoenix. It was scary because she was swaying towards Zilver for a bit... but she's finally decided to go with Sky Phoenix at Pitt Street. Good thing too, because a wedding banquet review popped up on eatability for Zilver, and it sounded like a horrifying experience with tears and headache, broken cake and memorabilia, dirty pathways and small change room, vegetarian guests not attended to...
Reason why I brought up Zilver was because my brother bought a coupon for Zilver. One thing about these online deals is that they always come around every so often. I've seen the Zilver deal quite a few times already, same with Kobe Jones, and *shudder* Kuai Zi as well. He bought one just to try, because peking duck is his absolute favourite thing.

I gotta agree with other reviews... Zilver lacks service, but what they lack in service they make up for in the food. The coupon wasn't expensive, and they loaded us with food. Not extremely good food that you get without a coupon of course, but good enough. And peking duck, of course.

Plate looks small, but it's for two people only! It's pretty crazy though, previously my brother and I actually had a whole duck to ourselves...

Deal included san choy bao, haha.

There was also another dish of fried rice which I shoved into a takeaway container that was in my bag. I came prepared! Haha, ever since last time during the yearly dessert event... Sugar Rush I think it was called, I forgot.. anyway, ever since then, I've almost always carried a clean container just to shove any leftovers in to. Good thing too, because takeaway containers almost always come at a cost at restaurants these days. 50 cents or something...

It wasn't anything spectacular, but peking duck is always welcomed :D Just to make the deal even sweeter, it was Free Ben&Jerrys day that day!

They were almost closed when we went there, but the queue was still long. Not a problem though, the queue went really quickly.

Given tokens and postcards before reaching the store so we can decide on flavor.

Phish food for me!

Some school kids must have been doing the rounds since school finished, they were seated at a table stacked high with ice cream cups... would have been fun to just queue, get ice cream and run back to the end of the queue so by the time you finish eating your ice cream, it's time to get another one... but we were decent people, so we only got one cup each =D
